Massage Therapy Methods to Help Relieve Scoliosis Discomfort


In the United States there are millions of people of all ages suffering from some form of scoliosis. This atypical lateral curvature of the spinal column, while usually not life threatening, will often negatively affect a person's quality of life both physically and psychologically. Various alternative health practices, such as yoga and acupuncture have been found to help in lessening the problems cause by scoliosis. Another alternative health practice, several massage therapy techniques are also effective in alleviating discomfort.

Cranial-sacral therapy, which uses gentle traction, can help to restore some balance to the spine and improve mobility. Also, deep tissue massage and assisted stretching techniques can help to increase circulation, ease some of the pain and reduce adhesions.
