Attending Acupuncture Schools in New York City

In New York City there are three verified acupuncture schools training hundreds of students how to be highly-effective practitioners. There are several more of these schools located in Brooklyn and in nearby Montclair, NJ. It seems like an awful lot of schools teaching the same basic thing all in one area, even if the area is the massive New York City. However, acupuncture has come into its own in the United States in recent years, and the demand for professional acupuncturists has risen accordingly. In addition to teaching acupuncture, these schools also prepare students for careers in Oriental medicine and massage. Attending an acupuncture school in New York City could be the beginning of a great new career for you, so read on.

The Pacific College of Oriental Medicine has a faculty that encompasses expert acupuncturists, traditional medical doctors, and Taoist priests. The program is designed to teach students an appreciation of both Oriental medicine and the medical problems which plague today's patients. Based on the concept that observation and reason lead to knowledge, students are given a basic foundation of knowledge in a classroom setting and then a great deal of clinical practice. A student receives 950 hours of hands-on training under the guidance of experienced professionals. For those who would prefer not to attend acupuncture school in New York City, Pacific College also has a campus in Chicago and San Diego.

Another acupuncture college in New York City is the Tri-State College of Acupuncture. This is one of the oldest acupuncture schools in the United States, and it is still being run by practicing acupuncturists, which some schools aren't. A master's degree program includes in-depth training in Oriental Medicine and in three different types of acupuncture. Each student begins clinical training during their first week on campus and will become well-versed in treating every condition which patients might seek an acupuncturist to cure.

A third acupuncture school in New York City is merely called Acupuncture School. It is located at 226 W. 26th St. in the city, but there is no detailed information on the school on the Internet, so you'll have to check it out in person.
