The Benefits of Indian Head Massage

The head massage comes from the Indian technique called Champissage. The technique is based on alternative medicine principle that is associated with energy flow or chakras. It has been used for thousands of years by Ayurvedic healers. The basic goal of this Indian massage is to release stress of headaches, relieve tightness in muscles, aid in sleeping and stimulate general health and well being.

The main features of Champissage combine massage works on the upper back, shoulders, neck, scalp, face and hands. It can be done with or without oil. The recipient is to be seated and remain fully clothed. Oil head massage will require a towel that is draped around the shoulders. The masseuse will use soothing and refreshing movements on the head, shoulders, neck using old-age techniques of the Ayurvedic.

It can be done for babies and children as well. It is a common practice for barbers in India to include the massage therapy for their clients after a haircut, while in the West, it has been modified as a treatment to treat stress, fatigue and improve circulation. Depending on the needs of the person, this massage can either be relaxing or invigorating. By focusing pressure on the nerve endings in the head blood flow is improved to the head and neck which increases healing all through out the body.

A good massage to the head helps to restore balance in the energy flow of the body leaving the recipient a feeling of peace and tranquility. Stimulation of the lymphatic drainage also occurs thereby helping the body to get rid of toxins effectively, restoring muscle tone and improving joint movements. Another advantage of this technique that is done using oil with the right rubbing-in movement is that; it makes for a healthy scalp, strengthens hair follicles, improves hair texture and increases hair growth.

With regularity, head massage gives the body and mind a great sense of general well being. Everybody should experience it at least once!
