Physical Therapy Has One of the Highest Levels of Job Satisfaction

When we're kids thinking about what we want to be when we're older, we don't really think about job satisfaction. Anything we want to be will of course be satisfying - a fireman! a baseball player! But as we become adults, we know that many people end up in careers and lines of work where they simply aren't happy. Physical therapy though isn't like that, and in fact, it has one of the highest overall ratings for job satisfaction for any line of work or career out there.

So, just how many physical therapists are happy with their jobs? In a very important 2007 study, it was found that more than three quarters of physical therapists aren't only satisfied, they are "very satisfied" with their careers. That's above 75% of people in the field, and it means that entering this profession could be your ticket to a lifetime of happiness and success.

But to put that number into better perspective, don't just take our word that it's very high. Consider that in the same survey, it was the number 2 ranked career that was listed. The only thing higher than it is something completely different - being a part of the clergy! After that, physical therapy was next on the list, which is pretty spectacular.

There are other recent studies, surveys and reports which rank physical therapy very highly on their list of careers and lines of work. For example, a 2010 report by CNNMoney.com put physical therapists number 4 overall of the top 100 careers in the United States, and in 2009, the US News and World Report included physical therapists on their best list as well.

Clearly, physical therapy is very enjoyable, and people end up really taking pride in their careers in this field. But why exactly is that the case? One reason for this is because you get to help people each and every day, improving their lives, minimizing or getting rid of their pain, solving their problems, and more. That's something that can give anybody a boost, and will ensure you feel good about what you do when you get up in the morning.

But any satisfying career needs more than that to make it one of the best careers in the country. Physical therapy stands apart therefore because it also is a very rapidly growing field, and there are lots of jobs to be had, which is extremely important. From there, physical therapists also earn a very high salary, which means you'll get paid handsomely and enjoy a better lifestyle.

While it's easy to be a kid and dream big about our lives, it's even easier to be an adult and be stuck in a dead end job that we hate. Luckily, it's never too late to consider a field like physical therapy, where 75% of practicing professionals are very satisfied with their line of work. From helping people firsthand, to being paid well to do so and having wonderful job opportunities, physical therapy has all that you can ask for and more.
